Received B.A. degree in economics from U.C.L.A. in 1971 and J.D. degree from Harvard Law School in 1975. Also received M.B.A. degree from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1976. Appellate experience has included cases involving original issues of tort, civil rights, governmental liability, and insurance law in writ proceedings and appeals before the California Courts of Appeal, California Supreme Court, United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Appellate experience has involved the handling of well in excess of a hundred and fifty civil appeals and writs, fifteen of which have resulted in published decisions. Experience includes five years with the law firm of Haight, Brown & Bonesteel, and four years as head of the appellate department for the law firm of Liebman & Reiner. Certified Specialist in Appellate Law, State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Member of the Appellate Courts Committee and the State Appellate Judicial Evaluation Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association. Also member of the Appellate Practice Committee and the Appellate Advocacy Committee of the American Bar Association. Chair, California State Bar Committee on Appellate Courts, 1994-1995.
